News Group reader question once again

Hi,

Sorry to bug you all with this again.  I've tried Thunderbird,  
Entourage and OSXNews now with no success.  I specifically need a  
news reader that will help me to subscribe to my groups for my  
classes.  More specifically, I need one that supportts SSL or secure  
connections.  OSXNews was my best hope but it will not work because  
it won't support SSL.  Any further suggestions?
