> Do we really want a braille interface to just speak what vo speaks? I think in the Apple world, simple and elegant wins out over the minutia of configurability options. I don't quite understand why the Braille drivers are taking so long to materialize. To me, conceptually, it seems as easy as piping the VO caption panel to a plain text (tty, teletype) device. An appropriate little deamon should be able to handle that. The only other piece is for the input keys on the braille display to emulate a regular keyboard. Again, that should be straightforward for a USB native devices (I am not so sure about those using serial to USB conversion, it seems like the bi-directionality would be more complicated).
It is so easy for non-programmers to say how easy things should be...
