Indeed, I understand. there is everyone's answer. No matter how great the prices are, if you cannot afford it, you cannot afford it.

I can understand that logic, not that it answers my specific question. I
asked not why not do it, but logistically the difference between what he
is asking and an upgrade?
For example, I do not like throwing away an entire machine when adding a
card or two or some memory will make all the difference, but this is me.
If one is too far from a real apple store, has a hobbyist interest in
creating the machine from scratch , or wants to combine existing materials
with some major new ones, it may be worth the time.
each person brings their own interest to the equation. If this person has
lived entirely in the windows world, where one is told to buy a new
machine each time Gates has a bad hair day, his suspicions may make sense.
I understand and respect that you might not think it worth the effort, but
you are not the poster with his environment, needs or experiences. can
you
apply yours to him?

I don't think either building a pc or a Mac is cost effective since

In an effort to add something educational here, what is the difference

one? Others have done this on this list or have referenced as much.
building a pc from parts is not uncommon, so I can understand the spirit
of
the goal, but not why the idea is such an odd one where macs are
concerned?
Just wondering,

hello I was looking around on the osx86project.org site and it
mentioned
building a mac pc out of intel parts.
1. there any one doing this currently?
2. if this is possible, would it run tiger, or would I have to result
to
using hacked version of osx?
am trying to find out the cheapest way to get my mac legally oviously
if I can build my own using parts, then purchase tiger I would be
saving
200 bucks or so.
let me know
thanks
