Hi Cheryl. I guess you missed my original post, because I did indeed
explain all this. VO+Space, (CTRL+Option+Space), does absolutely
nothing whatsoever. You have to have the mouse pointer on the
buttons it would seem, no way around it. Yes, I am aware of the key
combinations to move the mouse using numeric keys ... as specified in
the VO getting started manual. Yes, I've tried adjusting the delay,
again with no effect.

This is old news as far as command-option-ctrl not moving the
mouse; that was posted quite a wqhile back and has been posted
several times.
1. What happens when you don't try moving the mouse and just do
ctrl-option-space or ctrl-option-shift-space? I didn't see your
explanation of this if there was one. I'm aassuming you had the
mouse cursor following the vo cursor and tried both key
combinations. Ordinarily one is able to do just this and no mouse
movement should be done first but I know there are exceptions as I
had one time with iTunes. But you should try both combinations
before messing with the mouse at all. Also have you tries shutting
down completely and waiting a couple of minutes and restarting?
2. I think you said mouse keys didn't work but just in case: check
the key combinations you are using and try again. Make sure
mousekeysis turned on in universal access. I also have the box
checked there so I can hit option five times to toggle between
mouse keys and numeric keypad. Also note in universal access the
sliders for speed and delay; don't know how that might affect your
movement. Here are the key movements:
up: 8
down: 2
left: 4
right: 6
move diagonally: 1 3 7 and 9
click mouse: 5
hold down the mouse button: 0
release the mouse buton: period (the one on the keypad of course)
0: holds mouse
