Gordon, I'm not sure what you mean by shift left/right arrow doesn't  
read selected items in safari.
As far as I know, this has never worked, since it's not possible to  
select portions of the web page, you need to select the *whole* page,  
then paste it into text edit for doing the highlighting.
That's what I've always had to do when I wanted text from a web  
page.  This is nothing new to 10.4.7, it's the way it's been from the  
start.  There''s been numerous complaints about this on list prior to  
now.  Unless of course you were referring to something else.
