Subject: Re: adventures with windows media
Windows media player isn't necessary. Throw it away, and go get flip for
mac. It will do the same job, and with considerably less fuss.
The only reason I wanted windows media player was to play encrypted
content, but it can't/won't do the latest encryption, and nobody is
selling the earlier ones, because they've been broken. So, encrypted wmv
files are out. With that *major* annoyance, windows media is not worth
the hasle it takes to get it installed. Flip for mac plays everything
the silly media player will handle, and as I said, it's much easier to
install.
Btw, I had sighted site help to install my copy of windows media, and it
still took several tries, so don't feel bad you couldn't do it first try
alone.
