no offense is taken from any of it, as none is meant.

Right back at you!

Given that this most recent round of discussions only
started two days ago, I'm not following you here.

The need for a wiki has been discussed since before Tiger shipped. I
admit I that I am a little enthusiastic having someplace to post!

Screenless Switchers has hardly had a chance to do
anything in that time, and that site has existed for an
extremely short period of time.

Granted, but they have already admitted they won't have drupal [sp] up
anytime soon.

An established site, like MacVissionaries, especially, but
Screenless Switchers too, that is devoted to Mac, will be more
visible to struggling VO users in the beginning.

MacVisionaries came out of nowhere. I think a functional VO wiki can
expect similar success. My track record at making these predictions
is miserable!

I am not condemning the effort at all.

Apologies, I did not appreciate your long history with Gabe and
mistakenly assumed you knew him mostly through MacVisionaries
correspondence.

In the past few days, on this list, Gabriel has posted a horribly
rude message he sent to the folks who recently reviewed VO,

I appreciate Gabe's earned reputation on this list. I have not,
however, noticed similar unprofessionalism on his BllindTechs.net
domain. As one who has developed a persona for this list that is not
wholly consistent with my other public work, I am inclined to extend
the benefit of the doubt.

because you have picked my message apart piece by piece,
rather than looking at the whole of what I am saying.

Perhaps you were overly diplomatic, or maybe I am just being dense!

As I said, we already have an uphill battle, and due to the
scarcity of such resources as this, I am concerned it could further
negatively impact what we are trying to accomplish.

You may be better tuned into the pulse of the community than I, but my
impression is that the success of Apple and VoiceOver are very much
tangental to our efforts. I think the likes of Jay Leventhal are
missing a trend they can either lead or follow. I don't think
political correctness matters much when huge forces, like the aging
baby boomers, will change everything over the next decade.

There is no need for a spotless PR record, and that is
exaggerating the point I was driving at.

Do you feel that supporting the wiki effort endorses Gabe's other behavior?

That does not mean that one should disregard past events though.

My regrets for not appreciating your shared history.

I am willing to give Gabriel the benefit of the doubt, and only
expressed concern, not an open boycott of his wiki.

Thank goodness for that! Condemnation from someone with your
reputation of the fledgling MacVisionaries list could have killed it
at the beginning.

As time permits, I will.

Really, that was a challenge to all the regulars here to try it.

I do sense that you are implying that I'm rather useless and
contribute little if anything, so I'll let this drop from here on out.

Mea culpa! Your contributions to the Mac VI are quite famous. You
have already done enough for two or three life times! I am alarmed
because we are so desperate for a wiki. and Gabe contribution is
drawing fire even before it is launched.

His three line response, in fact, has gone much further in comforting
me on his WIKI than your disection of my message. *grin*

Oops. And there I go again...
