I checked into this:
There are four potential downloads:
http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/5.0.html#macosx-dmg
Mac OS X 10.3 (PowerPC, 32-bit)
Mac OS X 10.4 (PowerPC, 32-bit)
Mac OS X 10.4, (PowerPC, 64-bit)
Mac OS X 10.4 (x86)
The DMG contains four items, a Read Me file, a Preference Pane, and
two packages: mysql - 5.0.45 and mysqlstartupitem.
I am able to touch all four items with VoiceOver and launch the
installers selecting and launching with a variety of methods.
In a finder window within the Sidebar do you have an item named:
mysql-5.0.45-osx, etc etc?

It's not happening. Command-option-shift-m has no effect. command-
o opens up the disk image file and selects the mysql tools folder.
Inside that folder are two applications and a widget. Actually I
think what I read on the web is complete misinformation about
mysql; the worst part of it is that misinformation is in the mysql
manual itself found on the mysqlab home page for installing to a
macintosh 10.3+ computer. I'm going to do something I shouldn't.
I'm leaving that package on my mac and I'll take that to the next
smmug meating and get together with the club's data base expert and
see what maybe both of us can learn. If I can get this one
installed I'll put the lock pick up on the discuss list to help
others who might have a use for a data base on the mac get one
installed and working.

Is there a way to get mysql to run its installation script on the
mac? It is very difficult to have the mouse stationary on the
mysql image file and then to double click it. Other than that
unless there's another way to get this done, I'm thinking this
package is uninstallable.
This originally came from the mysqlab home page and is version
5.0.0.12
and is the universal binary package of about 12.3MB in size if
anyone
else has this one working. I've been fighting with this one
for weeks by
now.
If VoiceOver has it's focus on something to open or launch Command
O should work alternately Open within the contextual menu;
Command Option Shift M.
