Here is how you might use spaces with VoiceOver.
The Spaces system preferences let you assign particular applications
to a particular space so you could go in and make certain applications
launch on a particular space. Now you can switch space with either the
control right and left arrow keys or with the spaces menu. Each time
you start an application that has been assigned to a particular space
it will start up in that space. So you can have a space for email and
chat and another for web browsers and so on.
