OUt of your price range? Hmm. I think the IMac can be more powerful than the mini although the hi end mini might be all you need. How big of a monitor do you need? You might make up the price differential between the minni and the mac with that because the imac includes the monitor you select to a point. Of course, if you want a 48" one, you'll have to buy a mini.
