I don't know when you purchased your mac mini, but the capability to 
handle burning dvds has been available for some time. It certainly is 
possible to get a better drive put in; I know this because I sent my mini 
to fastmac and had it done. Look at www.fastmac.com. There may be other 
places in your area that will do it without having to send it away. You 
also might be able to use an external dvd burner so you do have options. 
You probably didn't realize what the drive designation for your mini meant 
when you were choosing it.
