TK: It shouldn't matter whether their on Mac, Windows or that silly
vista thing. All you need to do is the following:
• Start itunes.
• Open itunes Preferences by pressing cmd-comma or choosing it under
the iTunes menu.
• In the General pane, down at the bottom, give your music a shared
name that is recognizable to all.
• In the Sharing pane, check the items you wish shared. That is,
whole Library, certain Playlists or whatever.
• Check the box if you'd like it to be password protected or not. If
so, put in your password for the Shared Music.
That'll do it. When your friends come over and turn on their itunes,
they will see an item called "shared Music" in the sources Table.
They can then expand the triangle and access your music. They will
have no privileges to copy or make changes to your music. No need to
move the music folder to the Shared Items or anything of the sort.
This process should work on Windows as well although I've never tried
it on Windows. One other thing to note is that you are only allowed
five connected users to your Shared Music at any given time. It could
be ten different people but only five at a time.
