hi all

yep now this is where a lot of people go about things in different ways.
some people transfer cable through a patch cable from the host to individual
machines. some may set up an open network for users to receive and send data
to the host computer.

How I would do this is the following.

if you are transferring data via wireless networking. give each person
access to the wireless router or if using ethernet cable even better. when
each
person has connected successfully transport the data you want users to gain
access to into your shared folder. set up a network drive so users can
connect to you and they can move or copy data.

most windows machines can log on directly to other users when the settings
are just right. if I remember right going through the network folder on the
windows PC and finding the new computer shown will allow a connection.

but I have to confess if it was me I would be running a data server for
people to retrive and send data. I have done so in the past. setting up auto
permission accounts and the likes of for macs and pc's alike. that way the
server can handle data directly and receive administrator commands from a
mobile notebook. but that can be fiddly and some rather heavy software needed
and
a background in CISCO networking lol

you could also get an external network drive and plug it directly into your
router or switch and have users log on to it either secure or open user
modes.

sorry if it isnt much help

lew

woof woof woof all the way my fine people lol
must find a dog biscuit lol I'm in the mood for one.
