Do you know whether it is a pop account? While editing your account,
there's a box to specify it. Some server providers require secure
authentication and a secure port like googlemail for instance. I'm
sorry if I am not able to help urther.

I think you may have to edit your particular account so that it
features in the table of servers you use. I cannot for the world of
me remember now where I did it but you probably need to go to file
and accounts. When in Mail, press VO keys + M and you will be in
the menu bar for Mail. Arrow right to file and down to find
