well, let's see, I got my macbook, and extra battery, a carrying case..... 
and anyway, it cost considerably more than an icon with an included carrying 
case and an additional few dollars for an mini sd card.

I totally agree with you here.
I briefly considered the Icon when my laptop died, but discovered I
could get the macbook for the same price and enjoy full functionality.
Note takers are great products, but I personally prefer using a laptop.
