Honestly, I used to be a big advocate for note takers as a
solution. I have carried and sold several through the years, and I
own a BrailleNote mPower, Elba and a few others. At this point,
however, I am inclined to believe and recommend a Mac Book or Mac Book
Air over any note taker. I simply believe that with VoiceOver and the
specifications of a notebook or sub-notebook, you are getting far more
bang for the buck, as well as diversity. I think the problem, which
there are logical causes, is note takers are generally over priced and
are often behind the technology curve even at the time of their entry
into the market.
I, too, think if you could get a Mac down to the size of some of
the note takers, you'd really have a viable option, but nevertheless,
I'd take the extra size of a Mac Book Air over anything out there
oriented specifically for blindness.

well, let's see, I got my macbook, and extra battery, a carrying

and anyway, it cost considerably more than an icon with an included
carrying
case and an additional few dollars for an mini sd card.

I totally agree with you here.
I briefly considered the Icon when my laptop died, but discovered I
could get the macbook for the same price and enjoy full functionality.
Note takers are great products, but I personally prefer using a
laptop.

I personally dont think its worth it. fine as a notetaker but it is
straying
from the point of the list somewhat I have to say. I'm in favour of
other
accessible products but I have to say I prefer the mainstream market
than a
note taker that doesn't feel right or have that laptop
characteristic to it.
sorry that's my kind of view on it. but for that price you could
get a
macbook and have more software to it and be user configurable and
do more
