Hey Tim, thanks. I've got to dig into this a bit more and you know I
wasn't sure if it were possible to partition the drive using just Disk
Utilities. I don't know why I would think that I couldn't do this, but
it does make sense, but I've got to play with this more. Some great
ideas and thanks. Now to find more time to try them out.

Hi Scott,
thanks for the update. I've been thinking a little more about this
and have thiese ideas.
• If the Time Capsule is not mounted so that you actually see it on
the Desktop, will your kids think of accessing it at all. The
connection for Time Machine does not require the time Capsule to be
mounted in that fashion for the backups to work.
• Using the Get info, you can set privileges for specific folders on
your Time capsule so that other users don't have enough access
privileges to be able to delete or modify items within that given
folder.
• You could partition the drive on the Time Capsule so that your
backups and other data reside on one partition and set it's password
accordingly as well as pointing the other users to another partition
for their backups.
Just some things to think about. If you have questions or need help
with any of these ideas, let me know.

Tim, just wanted to give you an update on what I accomplished.
First it seems the account configuration is really only useful for
backing up certain users on one machine or so I have been told. The
best way to protect the data is simply use parental controls and
prevent anyone from accessing the keychain application. This way
you can use a disk password. It would seem however as far as I can
tell, that while Time Machine is doing its thing, if the drive is
mounted, the only thing anyone can see is the contents of the
machine they are on. In other words if CrackerJack Mac is
connected, then all you have access to is the data for that
machine. Now this works since we all have different machines on the
network, but if it were a multiple user situation, this wouldn't
work as well for me. I'm still not sure I completely understand how
this all works, but I anticipate Apple will enhance the AirPort
utility and abilities of the Time Capsule. Customers will likely
want some of these capabilities and if so, they'll find their way
into the software.
Thanks for your help.
