Ah, yes, wasn't commenting on the account issue, but only the idea
that the navigation is so difficult. Yes, it's a bit of work, but as
I said, the sighted need to do a bit of work as well. The ITunes
interface for a new sighted user is occasionally a bit daunting as well.
and I hear the complaints on this sort of thing from VI peeps for
quite a number of issues so I just wonder why sometimes? That's all.

Yes computers are easier to work with in many, many cases with
sight, but not all.
Anyway, again, just my thoughts / curiosities.
Thanks for your note and have a lovely one!…

Cara :)

Hi Cara,
The problem of how to create an iTunes account is quite real, so I
don't discount that.
As for the rest, you know that I use iTunes a lot. I do find it
easier
to use with my mouse cursor tracking my VoiceOver cursor, and
I generally leave this on, because there are other instances where
doing a real "click" (with trackpad key or, as I've just found out
for my laptop, with the Fn+I -- simulated numpad "5" key -- provided
mouse keys is turned on) gives you access to other features.
I've seen signs that Apple has been working on the contextual
menu for items in their iTunes Store, but some of these functions
aren't in place yet. I do expect this to get even better, though.
But remember, for first-time users figuring out the organization
is probably not so straight-forward.
Cheers,
Esther

Not to be snippy here, but what are people's issues with this sort
of thing? Yes, I know it sounds like a lot, but when a sighted
person
wants to view or buy something, they first need to locate it visually
on the page, find its price, and then move the mouse to it and click
it. Even for just buying a few songs, one still needs to do quite a
bit of maneuvering of the mouse cursor.
With VO, it's possible to set the mouse cursor to follow the VO
cursor, so routing the mouse to VO is not necessary in most cases,
nor
is it necessary thusly, to verify the position of the mouse cursor.
So in essence, when you nav to the price with VO, you can then simply
click the mouse and you get the dialogue.
I mention this sort of thing, as it seems I hear this bit again and
again and again. Just because someone is sighted, doesn't mean that
they don't actually move or do any work at all to find things on the
screen, and then locate them with the mouse cursor. Sometimes it can
be quite a pain to find something visually on the screen in a complex
page of pictures and text items. So it's not just the visually
impaired that may need to do just a bit of navigating. It's just not
all that different in the practical day to day in some cases.

Anyway, enough from me and hope yer all having a lovely Sunday eve!…

Cara :)

Is it possible to create an account using VO? I wish it wasn't so
complicated just to get a few simple songs.

Dear Will,
If I could chime in - and I hope not confuse matters - my
experience tells me that: firstly, you have to interact with the
list of the songs; secondly, you need to use vo keys to navigate to
the price; hirdly, bring the mouse cursor to vo cursor with vo
+command+f5; confirm that the price is under the mouse by pressing
vo+f5; click the mouse button. Only then will you get the dialogue
asking you whether you want to purchase the item and you will have
a chance of pressing the buy button. Allthis, however, is possible
only and only if you have an account with Itunes.
Others on the list will probably have much more to say on the
matter. I'm still a beginner.
Best wishes
Simon

U can't click on the price, u have to click on the "buy song"
button. Voice over won't read that, so u will have to use the
mouse. U should also get a "purchased" playlist, if u buy
anything from the store, that is how u know if u bought the song
or not.
