ooh, I didn't know they made omnipage for mac. that's nifty. I've
heard good things about omnipage for pc, I think my dad even used to
use it to scan babysitters club books for me years ago, lol. probably
with like version 2 or something haha. I'm sure it's only gotten
better since then, lol. too bad it's so expensive though, maybe
there's a trial version somewhere? when I'm more awake, I'll look.
lol. glad to know there's another option other than read iris, though!!

about ocr programs for the Mac is that they are not kurzweil and
the
programs that you use to read the output of the ocr are not
microsoft word
for windows. That having been said, read iris is vo friendly and
works
quite well. I have not tried directing its output to anything
other than
text edit but from what I can tell, it does a faithful job of
preservation
of what is in the document.
