If you really want to get rid of it just uncheck speak system events,
although unless I only ran one program at a time and didn't care about
update messages or system error messages or I could see the screen I
wouldn't do it.

Same here with skype. Sorry for the confusion, but it seems we're
having the same problem with two different programs. Figured it's
better to put them in one thread instead of going all over the place.
I wonder if it's a VO thing and not even related to our aps? But I
went in VO and didn't see anything about it there either.

Hi Olivia!
Growl is a scripter. to my knowledge it enabled notifications of
system events for Adium. This includes who connects, who is idle,
away, disconnecting, and so fourth.
Hope this helps.

Hi Everyone,
When I use Adium I keep getting a message saying "system has new
system dialog." I seem to get this every time someone signs on or
off despite turning off sounds when I'm away.
Is this normal? Can anything be done to turn it off?
Thanks, Olivia
