Hi
Whether textedit would suffice depends on what you need to do. It really is no match for a full wordprocessor when you come right down to it, though it is considerably more than a text editor. It sits right in the middle of the two extremes in my opinion and is suitable for a lot of people. I'd tend to think though that if the client is a teacher they would need a bit more than textedit offers, such as headers, footers, endnotes and the like.

Hi There Barbara,
You are right VoiceOver doesn't work with those programs you have listed, however on the Mac your client should have a program called Text Eddit which is more or less the same as Microsoft Word and you can get word processors that don't come with the mac but they have to be paid for separately. As for the other programs, I'm not sure what your client can use but I'm sure there are programs out there that she will be able to use with VoiceOver.
Hope this helps you a little,
best wishes,
Vicki.

Hi guys:

I am currently working with a client who is a teacher and she is losing her vision. She is using the Mac to do all her school work. She told me that she was having difficulty to read text in the computer for long period of time
because her eyes get tired easily.

My question for you is the VoiceOver will work with the following programs such as Word, Excel, Page Maker, and Turbo Tax. My client wants to use these programs using a screen reader for Mac. In my understanding that VoiceOver
will not work with these programs, but maybe I am wrong.

In addition, if you have any suggestion of programs which will work with VoiceOver and have the same features of the programs listed above, please
include them in your reply.

You can also email me privately if you choose to. Thank you very much

Barbara
