Open Office is becoming more accessible by each release, there is
currently some issues with it that other members have found, but in
general, it is geting there. The full release should be out sometime
this week though. Hopefully that eliminates any accessibility
problems that the list have reported. Open Office has a word
processor, a spreadsheet, and presentation software for it, and it is
completely free.
Other options for this area is Nisus writer
This application is probably the most accessible at the moment. It is
a word processing application only, and supports a variety of
functions. The downside to this is, it is not free.
Tables
This is another alternative for spreadsheet applications. This is
currently the most accessible, and is a very good spreadsheet to work
with. Again, the downside to this is, it is not free.
The downside is not really a downside itself, but just thought I would
mention it to let you know. It really depends on your preference,
whether she is willing to pay for the software, or if your providing
it for her.
The best way is to give it a shot yourself, or to have her try it out
to see what she likes.
As for tax software, I am unsure myself. I am sure some of the other
listers will shime in and recommend something.
