Hi Dan, You are not alone when it comes to learning the Mac for the
first time. Many of us were just as frustrated as you. One of the
things I tell students who are learning the Mac in the Anchorage
school district, "When learning the Mac, don't think in terms of the
Windows operating system, or your Windosw screenreader, assuming it
will work the same way in the Mac. The Mac commands are very
different from Windows, and VoiceOver looks at the screen in
somewhat different manner than, say, Jaws or Window-Eyes, or even
Hal or Supernova." First, are you using Leopard 10.5.5? If you
press Vo+shift+F8, I believe the VoiceOver tutorial/help will appear
on the screen. I will check again, to make sure that command is the
correct one I told you. If it isn't, my apologies. Richie

people here who will take the time not only to explain how your
system works, but will explain it in "Plain English," something I'm
trying to learn to do, since I have a tendency to get very technical.

the mouse follow the keyboard and the v.o. cursor and other
options. what do I want to check....I am totally blind and having a
tough time setting this thing up.
sorry for the repeated issues. thanks dan
also, you all seem to have much more blind time under your belt,
listening to the issues you are having with your computers sounds
so out of my reach as now, I have to laugh.I have only been blind
for just 2 years and a mac user for only a little bit. thank you all.
