Also the Flash plugin in FireFox can't detect MSAA unless it is version 9 or higher. This worked back to version 6 on IE.

Not so.

Adobe started exposing Flash content to Windows assistive technology via MSAA from the Netscape-style plugin used in Firefox two versions ago:

There are still problems with using keyboard navigation and Flash embeds in Firefox, but these are complicated problems that need to be solved jointly by Mozilla and Adobe:
