Your volumes can be mounted on the sidebar and also on the desktop and in
the volumes item gotten via the go menu. The sidebar is another view of
available resources such as drives and folders.

Its' in Finder preferences, under "sidebar". You can uncheck the things
you don't want. Interact with the tool bar, then vo to the "sidebar"
button, and press it with "vo+space".
