Yeah, about the only thing I can think of to do is to make sure you're current with software updates.

I understood that the Braille driver updates were built into the
update for Mac OS X 10.5.3, since the Apple Document describes that
the 10.5.3 update "Includes Braille Update 1.0 which enables GW Micro,
HandyTech, HIMS, Nippon, and Papenmeier Refreshable Braille
displays."  So if all software updates are current, these should be
included.

I got the update and it still doesn't run. It won't run on all of the
Macs we've tried, now there have been three.
