Ok, well I suppose that in the normal scheme of things, the question
would be asked why you'd want such a thing? I mean yes, the Mac Mini
is fine for us as we don't need a screen but why run a computer on a
battery pack without a screen?
there's a solution to your problem though, take a look at most
electronics stores and you'll find a whole range of inverters so get
one of these, a few decent rechargable batteries, make yourself up a
pack, connect this to your inverter, connect your Mac Mini and away
you go <smile>.

I'm using a UPS, and don't hook up the interface cable or use any

actually used this feature though.
On a somewhat related subject, I'm surprised someone hasn't come
out with a battery pack for the Mac Mini. Maybe they have and I
don't know about it, but it would seem to me that, since its power
supply is external anyway, it wouldn't be that hard to design a
substitute power supply with a battery pack contained within, so the
Mini would, in effect, have its own UPS.

Subject: UPS with the Mac
Hi everyone!
I've heard of people using these devices with Mac's and it makes
sense so here's the question, will the Mac automatically detect
the UPS when its plugged in? If anyone is using one of these with
your Mac then what experience have you had with the device, did
you get a particular model because of your Mac and software
compatibility issues, assuming of course that software of some
description is used with these things.
