Hello Marty and others,
Okay guys, here's my solution to playing DVDs on the Mac mini.
I purchased a DVI to Composite Adapter from Apple. This adapter connects to the DVI port on the Mac mini and the other end has an RCA Composite connecter and a SVGA connecter. It is not necessary to connect anything to this adapter. The computer will work with this device without actually using a monitor.
Apple sells them for around $19.95.

You do need a monitor connected in order to play dvds, however you don't need to have it turned on. I have wondered that myself, if there is a way to make it think it's connected to a monitor, but so far haven't found any solutions.

Hi all, for those with mac mini's, who aren't using a monitor, do you
know if you can play dvd's on your mac mini, or do you have to fool the
mac mini in to thinking it is hooked up to a monitor when it is not,
and what would you have to purchase to do this, since I was told I
wouldn't need a monitor with my mac mini when I purchased it. Thanks
in advance for any information.
