question on Adium

Folks, trying this Adium program out. The one thing I'm not completely  
certain of is where the incoming chat messages appear. Is this the  
text box after the unknown? Is there a way to have Adium speak the  
text chats as they come in> in?
Sorry, just trying to get a handle on this while doing a million other  
tasks at once. I need to clone myself.
