Yes, exactly for this reason OOo always tries to verify the format of a
file and it uses extensions only as a guidance which format it should
check first.

I still don't agree that in case of file formats that could be loaded
into more than one OOo application OOo should ask which one should be
used. There are two much (disturbing) dialogs already. And: if you
doubleclick a file on your desktop it always choses the same application
for a particular file type. If you want to use another application than
the default one you must use "Open with". IMHO that's the right way to
go also for OOo.

BTW: Arkady, would you please be so kind and turn off the quote initials
and use regular quote signs? This really would help reading larger
disussions, especially in mail clients (like mine) that support
different colors for different quoting levels).
