You mean like the one CPH already sends out? The one he included in this thread verbatim? The one you should have already read if you've actually been paying attention to this thread? Is that the kind of automated response you are talking about? > Educating people about OpenOffice and > pampering them about other computer skills don't go well together, IMHO. I don't agree with this last statement at all. We want people to use OOo. I personally don't care if they know what a commandline is, much less how to use it. The purposes of the users list are to support OpenOffice.org and to promote OpenOffice.org (to those seekers who come asking can OOo do this? What is OOo? etc.) - the list has nothing to do with turning people into powerusers or megageeks with usenets and Linux and RSS subscriptions to Slashdot. If you want to attempt this daunting task, people feel free - but don't use the OOo list to do it. Don't expect people who come one asking "Dear Support staff, can OOo do email like Windows does?" to understand what a usenet is. Oh, I think we should tell them, no doubt, that this is a mailing list staffed by volunteers - but I don't think it is one of the core purposes of this list to "educate the masses" on how to become a powersuser of all their computer functions. We're not O'Reilly, we're not a help desk for anything other than OOo. Let's try to stay focused on OOo, if we have to pamper a few users' ignorance of Advanced Email Useage 301, then so be it. -Chad Smith --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
