I'd question the "choose" part, but with this exception I agree and am
perfectly fine with that concept. But Office and Windows are software,
not formats. File formats do NOT have to be tied to one application or
provider. It is perfectly rational, and in the interest of Microsoft
Office users to:
1) keep using MS Office as long as they want
2) using .doc and friends when they have no other choice
3) start pretending that their governments use OpenDocument and
that Microsoft adds support in their favourite office suite.
3) doesn't exclude 1) and 2). And it would surely lead, in the
medium/long term to a price reduction of Microsoft Office and Windows
