A lot of people on this list will argue that this or that distribution
of Linux is great for home computers, but as far as I know, none of
them will play MP3s or DVD movies out of the box, and without these
capabilities, most people will simply not consider and distirbution of
Linux as suitable for a home computer!
Well saying that it wont play mp3 doesnt mean it wont play music.
Once that said there is DVD software available for linux (LinDVD) I
am sure they can purchase a license.
I think the whole point of the original writer was NOT to have to
purchase anything! Also, with most of those completely new to Linux,
they are not yet readers of Tux or anything like that, and so if the
drivers and codecs are not in the ISO with the Linux distro they might
just as well not exist at all.
Mandriva 2007 does all of the above in their free version as well as
play
Windows video formats like WMV
PS: If you are into high end computer games, Linux probably will
not be
a viable choice before 2010.
If you define high end games as Quake, Doom, Jagged Alliance and the
like,
there are Linux versions already and have been for a while and more
will come
as more Game Devs move to OpenGL.

Please check the TransGaming games availability.
