Besides, what did MS do as a corporation that is morally wrong?

I'm not saying this because I'm a Microsoft fan (gonna delete XP and install Ubuntu once I'm done with school this year, woohoo!), but 'immoral' is not the right word to describe Microsoft. Monopolistic and anti-competitive? Maybe. But I will term them 'immoral' only if I hear about a special Microsoft unit where the employees work on creating viruses to break down competing products. Microsoft does have a confidential research unit, so I heard, but I don't think they do anything like that :) Besides, Bill Gates is the greatest single philanthropist in the world, so you gotta respect him for that.

The key reason I'm anti-Microsoft is that you gotta spend lotsa money on a whole office suite, and pay for all their additional functionalities which I'll probably never need to use in my life, just to open .doc files, spreadsheets, and presentations. And this is the key reason I am grateful for OpenOffice :)

Cheers,
Alvin

Your personal beliefs and moral judgments are not the best way to convince people to use your preferred software package. In fact, I believe, (IMHO),
that it will turn far more people off to your message than you convert.

It's just software. It's not religion. Accusing people of sin is not good
marketing.

I'd dare say that any software you use is written, distributed, marketed, or
profitted off of by someone who you personally would have moral issues
with. I don't know all of Linus Torvalds' past or current behaviors or
beliefs. Nor do I need to know to fire up Ubuntu.

Do you disconnect every website that was written in Frontpage, or tested in IE on a Windows machine? Do you ever buy something from a website hosted on
a Windows server? Ever played Xbox? Ever watched MSNBC? Are you an
immoral man? You are at least indirectly supporting the Great Sata... I
mean Microsoft.
