If you can't say it with text, then it's probably not worth saying.
Not to mention that binary attachments (that includes zipped files like
ODF) must be base64 encoded first and thus burn up about a third more
bandwidth and disk space. There's also the issue of MS viruses and worms
that are spread by attachments and mail programs that automatically
execute them.
