Hi; This debate has been going on for some time. Several arguments (always the same ones) can be provided pro and con.

So ... as a legitimate question: What does Office Outlook offer that OOo + Evolution (or Thunderbird + Lightening) fail to offer? Why is bundling necessary? I have an Evolution launcher (icon) on my top panel and that does the job. Actually, I keep Evolution open all the time on its own workspace and have a Compose (command: evolution mailto:) icon on the panel so I can send an email from whatever workspace and application I am using. As far as I can tell it gives me the same thing as M$ Office + Outlook. A simple suggestion: On installation or first use of OOo; set OOo to automagically search for emailers installed on the system, particularly for the preferred emailer, and attach it to a toolbar button and the menu; show an email button that opens the emailer on the toolbar and voilá. Newcomers to OOo will be feel like they have a bundle and experienced users will have the emailer of their choice. The division of labour between maintaining OOo and various email programs remains. Since most stand-alone emailers are far more flexible and configurable than Outlook, everyone will think they have a net gain. -- Regards Bill; Fedora 9, Gnome 2.22.2 Evo.2.22.2, Emacs 22.2.1 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
