I think that whaat she wants is to keep doing what she has been doing without changing her workflow, she just discovered that the functions behave the same way in OOo and Google Docs.
So the real question is if it's going to mess up her formulas. I think that it wouldn't and that she will be happy to learn that we have extensions to integrate her documents with Gdocs for remote storage.
