Given that many of the developers producing open source are
doing it to learn: http://www.infonomics.nl/FLOSS/report/
I guess the adoption rate must be high.
It might be more interesting to ask how non-open software developers
are adopting new technology. Lots of interesting issues for these people.
My question is "What a new technology?" Most languages
and tools are derivatives of old ones (although that is not always what
their authors claim).
