This competition was the very essence of Do-ocracy. Until Philip brought up the prospect of improving the space and making the garage door more presentable everyone was happy to have it sit there with gaps and chips in it. SynHak is a collaborative effort. We don't need to have our personal mark on every single project that someone does in SynHak. There was no request for funds, no change to how we operate, just the intent to improve the space and help publicize us. I'm not sure where people feel this flood of phallic submissions will come from in an effort to stuff the ballot box and troll our community. I have more faith in our community and in Philip to tell people their artwork is inappropriate. Our community extends much further than our dues paying members. If we want people to contribute monetarily we need to make them feel welcome. This would have been a great way to invite our neighbors and online community to contribute to our mission of furthering art, technology, science, and providing a safe place to mentor these fields.
