It all starts with settings goals and milestones 1. Transit SME8 (CentOS 5.8) over to SME 8.5 (CentOS 6.3) "AS IS" 2. Timeline SME 8.5beta1: April 1 2013 3. contribs/how-to conversions by respective owners 4. Timeline SME8.5 FINAL: June 2013 5. Set EOL dates for previous SME Versions 6. Final delivery 'converted' contribs/how-to's 7. SME Server Final 8.5 with good base of working contribs: October 2013 a. What do we need b. Who do we need c. Commitment c. Plan the resources d. SME 8.5 conversion Kick-off: February 2013 There must be an entity in place that coordinates. No long elections like with previous attempts. Currently SME Server and Contribs.org are (technically) build and run by a very select few. They have been doing so for the last few years resulting in a high levels of stability, security and availability. All in spare time! We need to respect this and learn from it, so eventually we may be able to move things over to less costly setups on virtual hosts hosted by a sponsor. There, we have plan. Who's going to pick up on the high level project manager task? > On a side note, funny how after such a burst of activity on the Devs > list, nothing much comes up here :-) The silence is sadly deafening... > Time-zones, availability, private life, travel, interest etc etc. etc. I'm sure many are really giving it all some thought. Let it sink in and provide the first steps forward.
