This kind of what I'm driving at. A lot of the problems with getting
things done is simply a management one.

There are times when we need to try and task specific people to specific
jobs to break the back of things. That is difficult when we don't really
have much of an idea of who is available to do what.

I think we need a better method of stating required jobs and finding
volunteers to commit. I think there are a lot of people out there who
would be prepared to help but need to be given specific tasks rather
than just saying 'go find something to do on the bug track'. Not
everyone is a pro developer (I am a perfect example of a complete
amateur at all this) and I think we need to try and give as much
specific guidance as possible.

Maybe we need to expand the section on current tasks here and make it
more specific :

Agreed - I think we need to have the information in place for people to
find and work on - I had someone on IRC today who was asking 'what can I
do' and I would have liked to have given them more specific work.
