+1 from me for the adjustment Thomas suggested, since that's in the
intended vein of "properly document the status quo".

Do pip/PyPI/et al currently support that? If yes, then I think it
would be good to include. On the other hand, if it's a genuine
enhancement, then we probably want to defer it to metadata 1.4 in
order to clearly separate the "Update the specification to match
reality" step from the "Further improve the usability of the
specification" step.
