You're reading a bit too much into it. About half of this thread is seriously 
proposing just that sort of thing, and you provided such a beautiful example of 
why they're not ideal that I just couldn't resist using it. :)

It's not just search. It's also mail filtering, grouping by author and other 
similar things - everything that's based on the From: field specifying the 
author of the message, that is the mailbox of the person or system responsible 
for the writing of the message[1].
