I believe use of Reply-To header per RFC 5322 can be used to reply to author without use of From: header
https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc5322 When the "Reply-To:" field is present, it indicates the address(es) to which the author of the message suggests that replies be sent. In the absence of the "Reply-To:" field, replies SHOULD by default be sent to the mailbox(es) specified in the "From:" field unless otherwise specified by the person composing the reply. For example, in the original email sent to this mailing list to which I’m replying, the message had the following headers: From: Dave Crocker <[email protected]> Reply-To: Dave Crocker <[email protected]> and when I hit reply, my response goes to Dave Crocker <[email protected]> pat
