and there are some nice sounds in there, nice and clean sounding. most of my virus sounds come out all growly... not a bad thing by any means but some variety wouldnt go amiss ;) >. Hey ! and I like wobbly bassline ;) hehehe - thats all good... as i said just my opinion >On a loud system it > drives > the beat - thing is the mp3 kinda sucked life out of the mix :( and my toy headphones clearly dont help ;) when its a bit more complete i'll transport a copy home and put it through my mackies and hear it as it really is... > >> ps. whats the new piece of kit btw??? > > emu 5000 ultra the price of these has been dropping a lot recently. DV has them at about 800 quid with decent memory. tempting, but i'm thinking they're clearing the way for some new samplers from EMU so i may hold out a little longer. plus i'm incredibly skint after treating myself to a yamaha 01v > access virus cant go wrong with one of those... think i'd kill anyone if they looked at my virus b in a nasty way ;) been playing round with the arpeg on it and building up sounds that way without it going all trancey (playing different arpeg patterns off each other and stuff). also started running my drums through it for filter sweeps, phaser sweeps and to add some chorus to them. if you've got any virus questions i'll do my best to answer them (not that i'm an expert of course - you may well know more than me;) ph. ps. quick virus related question, whats the unison mode all about. seems to be a way to get a thicker sound by layering notes up automatically, but i thought thats what chorus does.... whats the difference??? my guess would be that unison works in terms of midi notes (ie. before the synthesis stage) and hence uses up polyphony. and chorus works on the sound itself (ie. post synthesis) and doesnt affect polyphony. --- Drum&Bass Arena Producers Discussion List http://www.breakbeat.co.uk You are currently subscribed to dnb-prod as: [email protected] To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
