Nice track! I really like some of the sounds you've got in here and the way they all fit together in the mix. It seems pretty original to me in that respect because I haven't heard many tracks that use a lot of bell sounds.
A few critiques for further improvement: 1. The bell that plays at the beginning and through most of the song on the 3rd beat of the measure could use some more reverb and chorus so that it really resonates and sounds like a real bell toll. It sounds kind of tinny and cold otherwise. This isn't so important when the bell is in the background of the melody as when it stands out in the sparse parts. This would really help out the intro and the drop at 1:45 2. The main melody that first comes in around 33 seconds always sounds like it is jumping in just a bit late which makes it hard to really groove to this song. I would definitely fix this because it really takes away from the track. Also, this melody plays a bit too much throughout the track, so you might want to add a little more variety be having a verse or two with a different main melody. 3. There is a squishy sound that plays once around 1:23. It sounds really cool. I wouldn't be afraid to use it a little more liberally, as long as you don't overdo it. 4. The drop at 1:45 sounds a bit forced. It comes much too sudden. I would try to ease into it a little more. All in all, a nice track though. Keep up the good work. easy. -Cory --- richard <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Hi all .. have been lurking on this list for a > couple weeks now ... > > http://baal.moonsquid.net/rafar/music/zoink.mp3 > > Disclaimer, I have only been doing this a very short > while and am fully > aware that I don't know shit :) So be gentle. > Pointers etc would be cool.
