Cool,

I'm just in that complete state of indecisiveness where i have a couple of
different synths i am looking at, but can't commit to one in case i find out
its not as ideal as something else. I had this with my sampler, where i
bought an A3000v2 for 799 2yrs ago and then they released the A4000 and
A5000 and now even an EMU E5000 and the Akai S5000 are available for the
same price. Bummer, still, thats life and now that all audio products have
reached an amazing state for the current money, it seems that everything has
levelled out a little, so its a bit less of a nightmare considering you can
get an EMU E5000 Ultra and a Novation for 1700 and be happy for years.

mate of mine bought one recently at that price (i think they're being
discontinued). from what he's said, theres some very nice sounds on there
even if it is a little dated (he's mainly after pad/atmos type sounds). its
sample based (afaik) so to compare it directly with a supernova2 (etc)
wouldnt be fair, particularly considering how cheap it is.

i'm pretty sure he's happy that it was 350 worth spent.

Subject: [dnb-prod] Emu Audity

Hi,

Just a quick query, but has anyone ever owned an Emu AUDITY 2000 (like a
light blue Proteus 2000). Anyone rate them?

Digital Village have them for 350 and they used to be 1200, so its either
a sale bargain or they are shite - mind you Sound on Sound reckoned they
were pretty versatile with 16 part arps, modulation and Z Plane filters, but
i wondered if they were any good for nice synth strings/sounds and pads or
subtle rolling basslines with the arpeggiators? I think it might but don't
want to waste my money.

If not what is everyones favourite synth for nice sounds (ie not nasty bass,
which we know is for the Virus, Novations etc) - Roland XP30s or
Wavestations?- i need fat Good Looking pads and Timeless strings....

Any help appreciated....
