chatted to my mate at lunch and he basically repeated what i said earlier.
he's happy with it at the price. he also said its easy to program and get
your stock sounds out of. he mainly got it to take some of the strain off
his pulsar card and for its arpeg. but he seemed happy with sound quality
and using it.

obviously you'd do well to spend time playing with it (if you can) to see if
produces the kind of sounds you're after.

alternatives at that price might be a novation a-station, or some soft
synths???
