Admittedly my PC does slow down when cubase is running - e.g if I'm doing
a network browse to transfer samples it will be slower than normal.
However, I'd say the response was noticeable rather than a drastic
slowdown. 256Meg should be OK, but it depends what plugins your running -
i.e I often have a full live drumkit, with Waves compression plus 4 band eq's on
each drum. I'm also a big fan of the Waldorf D-pole, so there are times
when 512 aint enough... For reference this is on a P550, with a 7200 rpm
drive, so I would have thought your system should run
better...

Subject: [dnb-prod] RE: Cubase slows PC downYou could also try completely uninstalling cubase and then reinstalling it.. Might do the trick!(Just remember to backup your plugins folder and default song file etc...)-----Original Message-----In a message dated 01/03/2002 13:56:38 GMT Standard Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes:

That should be enough RAM to run quite a nice amount of plugins etc...
Thats what I thought.
I think you need to give a bit more detail as to your setup to sort it out...
If you post the :
OS
Soundcard model
Hard drive setup
ASIO driver setup
Cubase audio system settings..
Version of Cubase?
XP, SB Live platinum, 40gig HD, I have no ASIO cos its an SB live. Cubase throws up a screen saying it couldn't create a native audio engine whenever I start it up, but I just click 5 times and it goes away. Maybe its the lack of ASIO that makes it sloooow. Its Cubase 5.1 R1 Zone
It should be possible to make it a bit better...
What happens exactly? The PC becomes unresponsive in General? Takes time to update screen? Audio dropouts?
For example if I switch programs now it does it immediateley. I can jump from AOL to soundforge instantly. When Cubase is on it takes about 2-3 times as long to switch between programs, and feels very sluggish. Perhaps its time for me to pay for all my cracked softwarez :-)))
What's the reading on the VST CPU usage meter?
The CPU usage meter on XP says 75-85% usage and 193MB PF usage. Somethin aint right here me thinks.
Easy,
Will
