"anyone
know a good Analog to Digital Converter? "
I'm sure
there's a hundred other makes and models out there that are as good or better..
But the RME ones are very good.. (and pricey)...
Check
out the ADI-8 and ADI-96 PRO... BADASS!
One thing to note for the Purist or those who
feel like making quality quality music is please go out and buy a copy of the
CD's and not download the mp3's. If you remember an mp3 isn't as "quality" as
a real CD. I would definetly recommend downloading the tracks to listen to
them or using a service like www.cdnow.com.
But i would suggest going out and buying them to sample in. Personally i would
try to find them in vinyl format because i love being a purist but that is
just me, its going to be converted to digital if you use a computer. Speaking
of which anyone know a good Analog to Digital Converter?

I'll have to agree
with dirtyrat on this one... sampling breaks is one thing, but sampling
synths is another. I thought the whole point of sampling something
was to use it differently, but if you're gonna go use synths samples from
other dnb tracks, it's kinda... cheap. Let's get a list going of old funk artists
you guys like, so people can start looking into their cd's (like the
thread going on earlier, which mk2 responded to listing the Incredible
Bongo Band as one good source of samples). Any others? mk2
also included a link to www.funk45.com, and jesus christ, there's
a lot of good shit on there. C'mon, let's start throwing out some
names...
